Script Summary: In politically charged times like this, it is easy to identify what makes us different from those on the other side of the aisle, but at the local level, even people with diametrically opposed politics can come together to, say, fix a pothole… and once the roads are fixed, there may even be hope for finding more common ground.  But that’s not to say it’ll be easy…. The conservative, white, rustbelt town of Denmark, Michigan was a hard place for the gay son of a Vietnamese refugee family to grow up.  It’s safe to say Matthew Tran hated the place.  So when he had to leave his life and boyfriend in New York to temporarily move home and help a sick parent, he couldn’t wait to get out of there again.  After decades of jobs moving overseas, Denmark was dying, and despite Matthew’s efforts working a nominal job in City Hall, the city didn’t have the resources or willpower it would take to turn things around.  But when a scandal breaks that unseats the corrupt mayor and the entire city council, Matthew learns that he’s the next in line to be the Mayor of Denmark.  Now, with public opinion on the old mayor’s side and enemies still lurking in the shadows of City Hall, Matthew will slowly discover that not everything about the city is as awful as he remembered.  As he connects with his family and his hometown on a new level, he’ll start to change his mind about Denmark and rise to the job of Mayor, where he’ll find himself in the unique position to try and save the hometown that he’d spent his whole life trying to escape from.

Script Summary: High school graduation.  Whether you loved the past four years or hated them, whether you’re going to miss them or repress them, whether you have a scholarship or stretch marks to show for them, one thing is certain: Once you walk across the stage and get that diploma, there’s no going back.  At least, that’s usually the case… Held Back is an hourlong dramedy about a group of high schoolers who are given a chance to relive the most formative years of their lives when they are inexplicably transported back in time to their first day of freshman year with all their memories still intact.  The setting is high school, but the themes are universal: fate vs. free will, love vs. lust, nature vs. nurture.  The story is told from the perspectives of three students who all graduated high school (the first time) with very different experiences: Jonah, a slacker who couldn’t wait to be done with school; Rowena, a bookworm whose biggest regret is the mistake that cost her valedictorian; and Danielle, the prom queen who’s worried she peaked in high school and her best days are behind her.  Knowing what they do now, the three of them have a chance to correct the mistakes of their past, but while they personally may have changed, the drama that is high school remains very much the same, and they’ll come to discover that hindsight isn’t always 20/20.

After John tragically drowns while on a treasure hunting expedition, the brothers grew apart – with Cal carrying on in his father’s footsteps and becoming a treasure hunter himself, and Nick, a historian and archivist at the financially troubled KEY WEST MARITIME HERITAGE MUSEUM.

One day, a 17th Century TEACUP is brought into the museum by local fishermen – a teacup with the name The Lady Heroine inscribed on the bottom… the last merchant ship to have had contact with The Foul Manta before she disappeared. With the museum’s finances in mind, museum Curator RAUL SÀEZ decides to bring a down-on-his-luck Cal in for the dive job in order to save some money, much to Nick’s displeasure. A thankful Cal heads out with his team, which includes Nick and Raul’s witty assistant, ELLIE MASON – but before their adventure can begin, Cal is called upon to settle a debt with local Cuban gangsters, MICKEY and MINNIE ROJAS. With only half his debt paid, Cal is given until midnight to get the rest of the money together, something that he chooses not to share with his teammates. They arrive at the dive spot where Cal and Ellie go under with metal detectors (Nick is afraid of diving after a childhood accident at a pool party), only to find loads of TRASH – but Nick has found something interesting… Cal’s troubles with the Rojas twins. Before they can move on to AMBER WAVES the next dive spot, Nick and Cal must return to shore for more gas, leaving Ellie alone on Cal’s boat, AMBER WAVES, where she uncovers all of Cal’s research on D’Amato and The Foul Manta. Meanwhile, back on shore, Cal and Nick have a run-in with Mickey and his thugs at a local gas station where they are forced to run for their lives in order to get back to Amber Waves. The team dives the next location and this time it’s a success – unfortunately, their celebration is cut short when the Rojas twins arrive and demand the priceless artifacts in exchange for Cal’s debt (and their lives). Nick, having had enough of Cal’s wild and dangerous lifestyle, calls it quits and returns home, but Ellie stays and offers to help Cal because she was told the same bedtime story when she was a young girl.
